Blue Jeans Baby

I am embracing my casual side and actually quite enjoying it!  I used to have a day job, work in an office- had to dress like everyone else and tone down my image and personality, which i hated.  So some the weekend, i really went to town and went all out dressing up Rockabilly, vintage style, with sexy girdles and seamed stockings.  As i was either in office (chains) i mean clothes of my nice vintage gear, i didn't really have much in the way of casual clothes.  i did have slob days but those were spent wearing not so glamorous pj bottoms.  Now that i am self employed, it isn't practical to wear pretty vintage dresses and seamed stockings every day, so i am embracing casual.

Lady K Loves
My high waisted jeans are a must, quite often people ask where to find them, i am going to let you in to a few secrets of mine!  Starting with Lady K Loves, i first met Kessie last year at Americana fashion show, we both had little stalls next to each other.  it was great to meet her and look at her stock in the flesh and i was blown away by her high waisted jeans,  they were such good quality!  they are also available in three different lengths and a few other styles, check out her website for more details.  she tried to teach me to stroll! - am hoping i will finally 'get' it by next years Americana!

Bernie Dexter

Bernie Dexter another beautiful inspirational business woman i had the pleasure of meeting at last years Americana fashion show.  I don't have these jeans myself but a friend of mine Emma (from Luna Photography does) and she looks fab!

Freddies of Pinewood

Freddies of Pinewood was where i bought my first pair of high waisted jeans from.  i got them about seven years ago and they are still going strong a little worn, but they have molded to my body and i love them.  i recently went to replace them and was really struggling as if i got a pair that fitted my hips they would be too big on my waist, i have am 11inch difference between my hips and my waist, so this always proves a problem when buying jeans.  i went for the button side ones as i thought i could move the waist button over.  i moved it over about an inch, but they are still too baggy on my waist.  these are my very comfy weekend jeans :)

Vivien of Holloway,
New to the jeans market are Vivien of Holloway, i have to admit i don't own anything by her at all. although i have head heard good things about the jeans, especially form those with big hips and small waists, so i might give them a try.  But for £75 i expect them to be out of this world!!

American Apparel
American Apparel is not a store you would normally catch me dead in!  The clothing is cheaply made and the loud music, funny looking shop assistants.  But i do love their disco pants, so i thought i would pop in and check them out.  But i actually stumbled on a pair of high waisted indigo jeans,  i thought i would try them on.  thinking that they would only be on the same price level as say H&M, oh how i was wrong, in the changing room i noticed the price tag, £70.  Oh well lets try them on and see.... god damn it!  they were an amazing fit! damn it, i had fallen in love and bought them!

I dont make jeans, but i highly recomend you check out these brands i have just mentioned.  I can however make cigarette pants, they can be made in a selection of fabrics including stretch denim.  See my etsy shop for more details.  I also made the sun top which is available from my etsy shop or email me for a custom order.

Do you have an jeans recommendations for me?  What is your favourite pair of jeans?

Sexy, Sheer and Square

Marilyn Monroe - The Last Stitting by Bert Stern
Floating in the cool spring breeze, so light an floaty it takes on a life of its own.  The chiffon scarf.   A fashion icon piece for decades.  Worn by glamerous movie stars to hide themselves from the paparatzi, worn by landgirls and factory works in World War II for safety and nesseccity.  Adopted as a part of the rockabilly staple.  This humble square piece of fine fabric has a lot to answer for.

Elizabeth Taylor
The square piece of fabric can be worn in many different styles, may it be to protect your perfectly set hair whilst in an open top Caddy or to protect your hair from getting tangled in factory machinery.

Worn round the neck for a preppy look... a look which can easily be turned bad girl!

Modern celebrities have also been sporting the headscarf too.

Modern pin up icons.. (Bernie Dexter left and Micheline Pitt right)
