Retro Swimwear by For Luna & Give Away!

I recently discovered this awesome retro swimwear online boutique through Tatty Bo Jangles.  Which i am now on their approved supplier directory, might i just add, see here.

As soon as discovered For Luna retro swimwear i had to tell the world about it, i tweeted, i posted on Facebook.  Why hadn't i heard of them before, i thought i had my finger on the retro pulse! I straight away emailed them, as i wanted them to feature them in my blog.  I got an email back right away from Vicki their managing director.  Offering a give away prize for my lovely fans and readers.  Details to follow at the end of the post .. so carry on reading!

For Luna was launched in May 2009 as a sister-website to La Magia. Having established ourselves as one of the top luxury lingerie websites in the UK, we wanted to extend our sense of style and passion for quality to the swimwear market. And so For Luna was born.

Our aim is to bring glamour, sophistication and femininity to the beach. We take inspiration from a time when ladies carried themselves with a grace and poise which seems to have been largely lost in a culture where almost nothing is left to the imagination!

All our swimwear has been chosen because it harks back to this image of the beach belle. Whether it is an out-and-out faux vintage swimsuit, or a modern bikini with retro-style print, we have carefully selected pieces that offer elegance and style.

Vicki then went on to tell me in her email.  "In terms of our inspiration, we just feel that modern day swimwear leaves little to the imagination, and I have a yearning for all things sophisticated and glamorous so I wanted to apply this to swimwear. I wanted to provide swimwear for women of all ages, shapes and sizes to feel and look amazing in, and our feedback over the years has told us that we are doing exactly that. It is all about empowerment, as a new mother to a 7 month old baby boy I love our swimwear because it makes my tummy disappear and I feel like a glamour puss in my swimsuits rather than wishing I was still slim enough to wear my bikinis!"

So all you have to do to enter is head over to For Luna's website and post a comment on this blog post as to which suit is your favorite and why.  You must also share this blog post either on your blog, facebook page or tweet about it.  Or even better do all three!  Winner will be drawn at random and drawn out of a vintage hat.  All entries must be received by 30th April 2011 at midnight UK time.

The winner will win a costume of their choice, in their size.  Your details will be sent to Vicki, who can help you chose the cossie of your dreams!

The winner will be announce both here and my Facebook page on 2nd May 2011.  So make sure you follow my blog or 'like' me on facebook.

Head over to For Luna's facebook page and become a fan, to keep up to date with new styles and new photoshoots.

Good Luck!

Water For Elephants

Water for Elephants is a historical novel by Sara Gruen.  I read the book a couple of months ago. It is fantastic, i really recommend it.  Whilst reading it my imagination went into over drive, dreaming up the beautiful 1930s bias cut dresses!  The book is written through the eyes of 90 something year old Jacob.  Jacob worked in the circus in the 1930s and is now spending his last days in a nursing home.  Quite a sad angle, but did make me think there must be so many fantastic stories out there buried away in the minds of the elderly.

Based on the acclaimed bestseller, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS presents an unexpected romance in a uniquely compelling setting. Veterinary school student Jacob meets and falls in love with Marlena, a star performer in a circus of a bygone era. They discover beauty amidst the world of the Big Top, and come together through their compassion for a special elephant. Against all odds -- including the wrath of Marlena's charismatic but dangerous husband, August -- Jacob and Marlena find lifelong love.

It is now a motion picture starring that vampire from Twilight, Robert Pattinson (go team werewolf!) and Reese Weathersoon.  I loved Reese in Walk the Line, she surprised me, played June Carter amazinly and had such a beautiful voice.(and didnt anoy me one bit, like she usualy does)  Directed by Francis Lawrence.  I am looking forward to watching it, i hope it doesn't let me down.

Now i want my blond hair back and to get practasing my finger waves.  Although the torso skimming bias cut dresses doent do much for my curvy frame!

Newark antiques fair, tomorrow

I haven't had my time to go on the 'hunt'! Either car booting or to charity shops.  But Mr BooBoo Kitty has been doing it for me, he has got such a good eye.  Its so nice to have a personal vintage shopper! He knows exactly what i want!  He is in the process of setting up an online etsy shop, promoting himself through facebook and twitter.  But more news of that in a different post.  I shall also show you what his recent finds for me have been in a later post.

Tomorrow, Mr BooBoo Kitty and I will be going to the Newark Antiques fair.  It is a two day event, it started today.  It is the largest fair of its kind in Europe!  It is enormous, 84 acers! with over 4,000 stalls, attracting thousands of dealers from all over Europe.  With its vast number of stands, choice of product is never an issue – there is quite possibly every item you could imagine!
