Update and Skirt Give Away!

Sorry for my absence lately fellow bloggers! A lot has been happening lately. I think because its spring, i am feeling really really motivated!

If you have been reading my blog you will know that i love to make dresses.  I have wanted to do this as a full time job for years, but the pressures of every day life, stressful job in the big smoke, have hampered my efforts.  But after the move to Nottingham, life is allot more chilled out!

So last week, I lent some dresses out to the girls at Flashes and Lashes studio (aka Ms Moo Make-up and Miss Rain Photography).  Scarlett Daggers was modeling and jewelry supplied by Quirky Boutique! I cannot wait to see the results!  If you haven't heard of any of the above do check them out :)

The skirt give away!

I am in the process of moving my BooBoo Kitty Couture page on facebook from a profile page to a business 'like' page.  I will be deleting the personal profile page when the website goes live :)  So to enter for the give away.... all you have to do is 'like' my new facebook page and post the page on your facebook profile, blog or twitter!

So the winner will be drawn at random out of all those who 'like' my new page, once my FaceBook Page has reached 500 likes! The lucky winner will win a made to measure pencil skirt.  I have yet to decide on the fabric but it will be one of my hugely popular wild prints!

Being Marilyn..

I  am very excited about not one but two films about Marilyn that are currently being filmed.

Blonde and My Week With Marilyn.

My week with Marilyn was written by Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Lawrence Olivier.  It is set during the filming of the Prince and the Show Girl.  I have read allot of biography's on Marilyn but not yet read this one. *heads over to,, places order* But from reading other Biography's about Marilyn.

I have found that she struggled endlessly with her identity and wanted to be taken seriously as an actress not just a dumb busty blonde.  My week with Marilyn is set during the filing of the Prince and the show girl.

After quitting with 20th Century Fox.  In it her newly formed movie company, Marilyn Monroe Productions, would make four films for Fox over the next 7 years at vastly improved financial terms for Marilyn, and more importantly, she would be free to work for other studios if she wished, and had the right of veto on any script or director of whom she did not approve.

The new company began with 'Bus Stop' in 1956 for which she earned both critical appreciation and a Golden Globe for Best Actress, and, the following year, 'The Prince and the Showgirl', co-starring Sir Laurence Olivier.

It is reported that Lawrence and Marilyn had a difficult working relationship, with Marilyn turning up for filming or not even turning up at all!

Michelle Williams as Marilyn

When i first found out that Michelle was staring as Marilyn is was slightly disappointed.  Why didn't they cast someone that i like, like Scarlett Johansson.  She makes a fab Marilyn!

But after seeing more shots of Michelle.  I think the directors have made the right choice.  Marilyn was a very sensitive, vulnerable character.  I think Scarlett is too confident to portray Marilyn's vulnerable side.

Michelle Williams as Marilyn and Dougray Scott as Arthur Miller
Blonde, another adaptation.  Based on Joyce Carol Oates's fictional Marilyn Monroe memoir of the same name, yet anther Marilyn book i am yet to read, and i call myself a Marilyn fan! *heads over to to purchase*

Directed by Andrew Dominik, the guy behind Chopper and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Naomi Watt's is to play Marilyn in this film, she admits that she is extremely scared about the role.  “It’s a huge pressure. We all feel we know her. I’m very, very scared about that,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

Viva La Mexico

The circle skirt became popular in the 1950's, when the world war 2 restrictions were finally lifted and hemlines dropped and skirts became fuller, seeing a change from the pencil skirt shape of the 40's.
